Is there any possible way to appeal the huge bonus Lew Perkins is receiving to a higher authority, like the Board of Regents at the university?

Lynn Bretz, a KU spokeswoman, said that the payment is a contract arrangement between Perkins and the university. Perkins was required to serve as athletic director for six years, which is up June 30, in order to qualify for the $2.05 million payment. Once the six years have been served, he has a contractual right to the payment, Bretz said. She said the only appeal now would be Perkinsā€™ in the event KU refused to honor the agreement. If Perkins does not serve six years ā€” essentially honoring his part of the agreement ā€” he would not receive the payment, Bretz said.
