I was wondering how many food options are offered at the Lawrence schools? Do they vary between grade levels and schools?
Paula Murrish, division director of Food Services and Purchasing for the Lawrence school district, said the food options do vary among schools. The number of options also increases as children get older. At the elementary level, the goal is to have at least four different options for fruits and vegetables. That increases to seven for junior high students and more than 10 for high school students. Murrish said the school menu that is listed on the district’s Web site does not contain enough space to include everything on each day’s menu, especially at the high school level.
