What is an environmentally responsible way to dispose of broken appliances such as DVD players and computers?
The city of Lawrence is hosting an Electronic Recycling Event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 25 at the Free State High School parking lot, 4700 Overland Drive, according to Kathy Richardson, Lawrence’s waste reduction and recycling operations supervisor. There will be a recycling fee for computer monitors ($5 each) and televisions ($10 each). There is no charge for other electronics. For a list of items accepted at this event, call 832-3030 or visit lawrencerecycles.org. Best Buy, Office Depot and UNI Computers also offer recycling services for electronic equipment.
