I saw a parking control officer ticket a scooter parked on the sidewalk on Massachusetts Street. The officer wrote the ticket by hand, then just attached the white slip to the bike. Does this indicate something other than a parking ticket?
According to Sgt. Bill Cory, of the Lawrence Police Department, parking control officers can issue handwritten tickets for violations, as described. There could have been several reasons for why she wrote the ticket instead of printing it out, he said. The most likely one, he said, was that the violation might not have been programmed into her ticket-writing machine so she had to write it by hand.
