Sound Off

I noticed a pair of Baltimore orioles nesting nearby and visiting my oriole feeder in my garden. They seemed to have disappeared in the last two weeks. Do they leave the area after raising their young, or did something else happen to them?

“Hard to say,” said Mark Robbins, an ornithologist at Kansas University’s Natural History museum. “They generally don’t leave this area for another area for another week or two.” He suggests that the birds may have decided to nest elsewhere or are just not visiting that particular feeder.
