I read about the size of the Kansas University endowment recently. Can you tell me how KU’s endowment compares with other Big 12 universities?
At the end of fiscal year 2008, KU had $1.21 billion in endowed funds, making it the 62nd largest in the country. According to a list maintained by the National Association of College and University Business Officers, here are the endowment totals for other Big 12 schools, and where they rank nationally among the 791 ranked funds: University of Texas, $16.11 billion, fifth; Texas A&M, $6.65 billion, 10th; Nebraska, $1.22 billion, 61st; Oklahoma, $1.15 billion, 63rd; Baylor College of Medicine, $1.09 billion, 67th; University of Baylor, $1.05 billion, 70th; Missouri, $1.02 billion, 75th; Colorado, $870 million, 86th; Texas Tech, $792 million, 95th; Oklahoma State, $617 million, 122nd; Iowa State, $586 million, 130th; Kansas State, $346 million, 182nd.
