The Lawrence school district changed boundaries for the junior high schools last year. The boundaries for elementary schools were to be changed or adjusted due to overcrowding in some and small numbers at others, but the decision was put off. The district promised to make boundary decisions this year. Where is the district in this process?
“In reviewing the latest enrollment projections, the district does not plan to make boundary changes at the elementary level for the 2009-10 school year,” said Mary Rodriguez, the district’s chief operations officer. “A capacity study of each elementary building provided additional information regarding space utilization in each school. The district, along with its projections consultant, will continue to monitor and analyze enrollment patterns, which may require boundary changes in the future.”
