Is it legal for people to park right in front of the Lawrence Arts Center? They’re blocking the driving lane and the view of people trying to use the sidewalk, while they’re dropping off or picking up their children. If it’s illegal, what can be done? It’s dangerous.

“If someone is actively loading or unloading passengers, then they can park there,” said Sgt. Bill Cory, Lawrence police spokesman. “They cannot stop and wait in the lane of traffic.” If you notice a driver stopped illegally in a lane of traffic, you can report it to the police department’s non-emergency number, 832-7509, Cory said.
