I have an ongoing discussion with one of my co-workers regarding whether plastic water bottles can be recycled. She goes through about a case a week.

Most plastic water bottles are classified as a No. 1 plastic (polyethylene terephthalate), which is a material that both the Wal-Mart Community Recycling Center and the 12th and Haskell Recycle Center accept. Imprinted on the bottom of most plastic containers is a raised number inside a triangle identifying the type of plastic it is.
