If the May 10 property tax payment deadline falls on a Sunday, what does that mean?
The Douglas County Treasurer’s office will accept real estate and personal property tax payments on May 11 because the deadline falls on a Sunday. Payment options including paying online at douglas-county.com. Payments also can be mailed to the treasurer’s office at P.O. Box 668, Lawrence 66044. The office will accept payments postmarked May 11 as being on time. Taxpayers also can make payments in person at the courthouse, 1100 Mass., or the treasurer’s satellite locations at Dillons, 3000 W. Sixth St., in the Plaza Park Shopping Center near 27th and Iowa streets, or in the Baldwin City Market during the second full week of each month. Drop boxes that are outside the courthouse and the 27th and Iowa streets office also can be used.
