I would like to know if there is a health facility or gym, either with KU or a private facility, that has an indoor walking track in the city of Lawrence?
Kansas University has an indoor track at the David A. Ambler Student Recreation Fitness Center. The center is open to students. Faculty and staff may purchase memberships for $20.83 a month, according to Jill Jess, KU spokeswoman. Allen Fieldhouse is open to the community but will close for construction after Saturday. Construction is expected to continue through September. Ernie Shaw, interim director of the city’s Parks and Recreation Department, said there is no indoor track, but there are dedicated walking times Monday through Friday at a couple of centers. They are: 7 a.m.-10 a.m. Monday through Friday at East Lawrence Recreation Center, 1245 E. 15th St., and 7 a.m.-11 a.m. Monday through Friday and 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at Holcom Park Recreation Center, 2700 W. 27th St.
