In regard to the police cruisers featured in the Sept. 19 paper, can police tell us what kind of gas mileage they expect to get around town? How many more vehicles do they expect to buy?
According to Ford Motor Co., the 2008 Crown Victoria gets an estimated 14 miles per gallon in the city and 21 mpg on the highway, Lawrence Police Sgt. Bill Cory said. The Lawrence Police Department is budgeted to replace nine patrol vehicles next year, he said.
