Is it possible that monarch butterflies are harmed more than helped during tagging events?

Chip Taylor, a Kansas University professor of ecology and evolutionary biology and director of Monarch Watch, says it is possible that some monarch butterflies could be harmed if they are handled incorrectly. However, Taylor said everyone who handles monarch butterflies during tagging is trained. He said there is no significant impact to the butterfly population.
