I was amazed and surprised to see the number of wind turbines west of Salina. There must be hundreds of them. They go on for miles. What is the exact count? Where does the electricity go that is generated from there?

The wind farm you saw is about 20 miles west of Salina, just north of Interstate 70. The Smoky Hills Wind Farm, developed by TradeWind Energy, has 155 wind turbines and, when finished, will produce 250 megawatts of electricity. The energy will go to Sunflower Electric Power Corporation; Midwest Energy Inc.; Kansas City, Kan., Board of Public Utilities; and Missouri municipal utility companies in Independence and Springfield.
