What happens when someone votes in advance but dies before Election Day? Does the vote count?

In Kansas, it depends on whether you cast your advance ballot in person or mail it in. Douglas County Clerk Jamie Shew said state law allows in-person advance votes to count because the ballot will be dropped into the box with other ballots. But if someone mails in an advance ballot and dies before the election canvassing, the provisional ballot does not count.
