Are the Douglas County sheriff's deputies, regardless of rank, recertified from time to time as to their physical condition? Do they have to meet standard requirements as to their height and weight?

There are no standard height or weight requirements for Douglas County sheriff's deputies, a spokeswoman said. A medical evaluation is required for deputy candidates, which determines whether they're "free of any physical or mental condition which might adversely affect the applicant's performance of a : law enforcement officer's duties," said Sheriff's Lt. Kari Wempe. After the initial evaluation, there is no further physical assessment for deputies, she said.
