What kind of voting accommodations are made for unexpectedly hospitalized individuals? Does LMH have a polling site set up so they can still vote?
Douglas County Clerk Jamie Shew said his office has an agreement with Lawrence Memorial Hospital to have hospital volunteers ask patients whether they still need to vote. If so, the patients fill out a special form, and the clerk's office provides them with a provisional ballot. If the clerk's office determines the patient has not voted twice and the ballot is valid, it will count at the canvassing, which is set for today for last Tuesday's election, Shew said.
