Why hasn't there been a dividing line painted south of 31st and Louisiana streets?
Ernest Butell, a Wakarusa Township trustee, said national standards do not require dividing lines on that stretch of road because too little traffic uses it. He said dividing lines must be present for roads that accommodate 6,000 or more cars a day. Butell said the last traffic survey, conducted a year and a half ago, measured traffic at about 2,000 cars a day. He said the township board may look into adding dividing lines in the future.
