I noticed the mural was painted over at the Lawrence Arts Center. What happened to it?
Rick Mitchell, gallery director at the center, 940 N.H., said the mural was vandalized several months ago but city crews just recently arranged to have it painted over. He said officials are discussing several options for replacing the mural, including hiring an artist to complete one. The mural that was removed, which showed a prairie scene with animals, was painted by area children as part of a workshop.
