I'm wondering what's happening to the white pine trees in town. Many of them look like they're dead or they're dying, and I'm wondering how I can protect my tree.
At this time of year, white pine trees shed their second-year needles as part of the normal growth cycle, said Crystal Miles, city horticulture manager. Miles also said they are temperamental as to soil conditions - they like even soil moisture and need watering if the weather is dry.
