Why is there an over-abundance of cotton coming from the cottonwood trees this year? The cotton is plugging up my air conditioner.

Jennifer Smith, horticulture agent with the Douglas County Extension Office, said: "This year's cool, wet spring encouraged heavy fruit and seed set on many trees. In an average year, a mature, open-grown Cottonwood produces about 48 million seeds."
