Do drivers waste more gas in their vehicle by waiting in the line of a fast-food drive-through or by shutting their engine off and going inside to place their order?
"There's no question if you're idling more than 30 seconds, you're better off turning the car off and going inside, rather than wait in the line, and probably 15 seconds is a better limit," said Jim Hanni, executive vice president of AAA Kansas. "By doing so, you have one other positive outcome: You get some exercise walking into the fast-food restaurant, which addresses one of our major health issues, too."
