Is it true that flushing Kleenex down the toilet is bad? I thought it only applied to septic tanks.
Jeanette Klamm, utilities program manager for the city of Lawrence, said Kleenex and other facial tissues are not designed to break down as easily as toilet paper. Facial tissues that enter the wastewater system can clog filters used to remove debris from wastewater in treatment plants. Also detrimental to wastewater systems are paper towels, baby wipes and grease, which coagulates in pipes when it cools.
