Does the city of Lawrence have any literature or charts on the types of trees planted in the parks and downtown area? I just thought it would be nice to know what kind of trees we pass while going on walks.

Crystal Miles, horticulture manager for the city, says: "The best I could suggest for a tree enthusiast is to refer to the publication 'Tree Treasures of Lawrence, Kansas' published by the Master Gardener Program of Douglas County. It includes a self-guided walking tour of many large and notable trees in Lawrence." The brochure is available at the Lawrence Visitors Center, 402 N. Second St.; the Lawrence Parks and Recreation main office, 947 N.H., Suite 200B; and the Douglas County Extension Office, 2110 Harper St.
