How does the seat belt law apply to vehicles that were made during the 1950s and 1960s - when seat belts were an option?
According to Kansas law, every passenger car made after Jan. 1, 1968, must have shoulder harnesses and safety belts, which must be worn. Lap-type seat belts in passenger cars made before 1968 also must be worn. The law doesn't apply to cars made before 1968 that don't have seat belts.
