I heard the city is selling surplus equipment right now. Is that true, and how does it work?

Yes, the city of Lawrence is selling surplus equipment on www.govdeals.com through Friday. As of now, 12 items such as a copier, drill press and surface grinder are up for bid. To make a bid, you must first register through GovDeals, available through the link on the right of the city's home page at www.lawrenceks.org. Most items for sale are used and may contain defects not immediately detectable. Successful bidders will receive a buyer's certificate by e-mail from GovDeals. Payment is due no later than five business days from the time and date of the buyer's certificate.
