Is there any place in Lawrence that recycles televisions or computers? How about treadmills?

The city has a recycling event to collect electronic appliances, including televisions and computers, on April 26. The event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Kansas University Lied Center parking lot, 1600 Stewart Drive. There is a $5 recycling fee for computer monitors and a $10 fee for televisions. Optional on-site hard drive destruction is available for $5 per hard drive. Items also can be taken to Office Depot, 2525 Iowa, or UNI Computers, 1403 W. 23rd St. For a large item such as a treadmill, call the Solid Waste Division at 832-3022 to schedule a curbside pickup. The metal on the treadmill would be reused. Visit www.lawrencerecycles.org/reuse.shtml for a list of other items and locations or call 832-3030 for additional information.
