Each child that wants to play football with the Lawrence Youth Football raises $200 to play. There are 26 teams with up to 30 kids per team. By my calculation that comes to around $186,000. Where does all the money go?

Bret Toelkes with Lawrence Youth Football said he wishes those were the numbers. According to him, the league has 23 teams with a total of 490 players. Each player pays $200 in fees and fundraisers. The league receives a percentage of the $200 after fundraising costs are taken out. The main expenses include field preparation and maintenance, new equipment, game officials, insurance and fund-raising costs. The money also goes to pay administrative costs that go toward newspaper advertising, office supplies, tent rentals, trophies, awards and equipment inventory.
