Linwood Community Library District No. 1 recently had an election for expanding its boundaries. I was wondering what the results of that election were? I'm also wondering if people already in the existing district were permitted to vote in that election?
On Sept. 11, the measure passed, 182-65, in favor of expanding the boundaries to include all of Reno and Sherman townships in southern Leavenworth County. The previous boundary did not include areas in the western half of Reno and parts of Sherman, where Linwood is located. Residents not previously in the library district paid taxes to the Northeast Kansas Library System in Lawrence. Registered voters in all of Reno and Sherman townships were eligible to cast ballots.
