How much has school funding grown in the past 10 years?

In the 1997-98 school year, the total spent on public schools in Kansas was $3.063 billion, according to the state Department of Education. That included state, local and federal dollars. In the current 2007-08 school year, that figure is projected to be $5.3 billion.
