I'm interested in knowing more about the old red building bricks that have "Lawrence, Kan." written on them. I'd like to know when and where they were made and also if there is any value to them as collector items?

The bricks were made in Lawrence. Helen Krische, archivist of the Watkins Community Museum of History, said there was a brick factory in Lawrence, by the current VFW. The bricks were made in 1899, but it is unknown when production stopped. The Antiques Mall of Lawrence said some of their dealers have had them in the shop for sale. They have sold for about $5, and some people do pick them up and collect them.
