Could you explain the pink foam that occasionally shows up in the Kansas River?

Not without knowing a more specific location of where the foam was seen, said Laura Calwell, the Kansas Riverkeeper, a nongovernmental advocate of the river. Foam generally occurs when new water runs off into the river. What causes a certain color would depend on where that water is coming from.
