What's the first day of spring classes at Kansas University? Is it on a Thursday this year, instead of Friday as it has been in the recent past?
Classes at KU resume Jan. 17. It's a Thursday start because students, faculty and staff get the following Monday off in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In some previous years, the holiday had passed before classes resumed so students started on a Friday.
