With the Kansas Jayhawks playing in the Orange Bowl on Jan. 3, has the school district given any consideration to postponing classes until Jan. 7?
Superintendent Randy Weseman said the school calendar is structured to provide optimum instructional time for students, meet requirements stipulated by the Kansas State Board of Education and to give consideration to family vacation and holiday needs. "While we support the Jayhawks and wish them success in the Orange Bowl, K-12 classes in the Lawrence public schools will resume on Jan. 3 as planned," Weseman said.
