What's the latest on the Wal-Mart project for Sixth Street and Wakarusa Drive?

The project still needs to have a final development plan and a final plat approved by the Lawrence-Douglas County Planning Commission. The Planning Commission is scheduled to hear the project at its Dec. 17 meeting. The final development plan and final plat generally are considered routine documents dealing with technical details of the plan. Once the final development plan and plat are approved, a building permit can be issued for the approximately 100,000-square-foot store.
