Sound Off

Has the Federal Highway Administration ever made a decision about whether to allow the South Lawrence Trafficway to be built through the Baker Wetlands?

No. The Federal Highway Administration has not released its final reports examining the impact the road would have on the environmental and historic importance of the wetlands. The report originally was scheduled to be completed by mid-to-late summer, but Federal Highway leaders now believe the report will not be released until September or October. Federal regulators said the process is taking longer, in part, because the administration's legal team is requesting more time to review the document.
