Is there a way to find out whether a handicapped parking sticker is legitimate?

According to officials in the Titles and Registration Bureau of the Kansas Department of Revenue, the bottom of the handicapped placard's decal sticker has a date that says how long the tag is good for.

Red tags are temporary, for six months. The blue tags are permanent.

Because of federal privacy laws passed in 1994, a person cannot receive information from the Department of Revenue on who has been given handicapped placards. However, if someone is concerned that a person is using a sticker illegally, he or she should contact local law enforcement officials.
