How can I get a copy of my birth certificate?

There are several ways you can obtain a copy. If you want it right away you can drive to Topeka and go to the Curtis State Office Building, 1000 S.W. Jackson, Suite 120. It is open between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on weekdays. You must have acceptable photo identification: a driver's license, state ID card, military ID card, passport or visa. If you don't have any of those cards, show any two of the following: Social Security number, bank statement with current address, car registration with title and current address, utility bill with your address or a pay stub with name, Social Security number plus the name and address of the business. It will cost you $12 for one copy and $7 for each additional copy. To see details on other ways to order birth certificates, go to www.kdheks.gov/vital/birth_howtohtml.
