I was wondering if it was required for Lawrence school district cooks to wear hairnets while they are serving or preparing food, and if not, why?

"The Lawrence public schools follow the Kansas Food Code established by the Kansas State Department of Education," said Paula Murrish, the school district's director of food services. "It states that food employees shall wear hair restraints such as hats, hair coverings or nets to keep their hair from contacting exposed food."
