How long has it been since the Lawrence substitute teachers received a raise, and will they be receiving one now that there is more money available?

The Lawrence Board of Education on Monday approved an $80,000 request from the district's Human Resources department for increased compensation for substitute teachers. The funds will be used to raise base pay for substitute teachers from $82 to $90 per day, to provide a year-end stipend to those who substitute the most days in an academic year and to increase substitute teacher pay from $110 to $118 per day for those in the same assignment five or more days. "It has been four years since the last increase in substitute teacher pay," said Julie Boyle, director of communications for Lawrence public schools.
