Will the city be giving out compost this year?
The city soon will begin its annual giveaway of compost for use by area gardeners.
The compost giveaway will run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 21 and Sept. 22, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 23 at the city's brush and composting facility, 1420 E. 11th St.
The free compost is intended only for individuals, not businesses looking to resell the highly fertile garden material. The compost is largely made from leaves and other yard debris that is collected by the city's trash crews.
