I was wondering, with the recent change in laws making animal cruelty a felony, what the law is about killing pests in your yard such as mice or rabbits or squirrels or rats?

The law makes an exception for "normal or accepted practices of pest control." State law defines "pest control" as "the destruction, prevention, repulsion or mitigation of a population, infection or infestation of a pest." Rodents and insects are included in the legal definition of pests.
