Is there any truth to the rumor that there is a problem with E. coli at Lone Star Lake?

Neither the Douglas County Health Department nor the Kansas Department of Health and Environment are aware of any problems with E. coli at Lone Star. County health officials say there is bound to be some level of E. coli in the lake because it is untreated water. You shouldn't drink it. The water is periodically tested by both the county and the state to make sure the level of E. coli is not a problem for skin contact.
