Does the school district have a morals clause for its certified staff? I'm concerned about the assistant principal who was ticketed for drunken driving. I also know of a junior high teacher whose living arrangements I consider questionable.

USD 497's policy manual does not include a morals clause. However, faculty and staff are to "maintain professional integrity" and obey "local, state and national laws."

The superintendent decides whether a teacher's or an administrator's behavior warrants suspension. The school board decides whether to suspend the superintendent.

"Anyone who has a concern about a personnel matter may contact the district's Human Resources Office at 832-5000," said Supt. Randy Weseman.
