About the new fire trucks - I thought the fire companies across the country years ago went to those green machines because it was proven that it was more visible than the traditional red machines. So, has scientific knowledge changed, or did our current chief give up that element of safety for tradition?

There has long been a debate about what color makes fire trucks more visible. Some cities tried lime-green trucks in the 1970s and 1980s, then switched back to red. You can find trucks in almost any color. Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical Chief Mark Bradford says studies have since shown that color doesn't affect visibility as much as the number and placement of emergency lights and reflective striping.
