I enjoyed the article the other day on the Getty grant that Kansas University received to help them develop a master preservation campus plan. That was a very interesting article. And that just brings up a question. Has the university yet moved forward with their nomination of a historic district there on campus? Have they had the chance to complete or move forward on their plans on that? I know several years ago they had a real push on that.
Five buildings already are on the national register, said Jeff Weinberg, assistant to the chancellor. KU continues to work with the Historic Mount Oread Fund and others to carefully consider additional nominations, including a historic district, he said. The Getty grant reflects this ongoing effort, and the coming work on a building and landscape preservation plan will give the university additional tools to assist this effort.
