Sound Off

The Kansas Legislature recently passed the new concealed carry gun law? Does that mean firearms are allowed on the Kansas University campus now?

No. The new law still prohibits anyone to carry a firearm at schools, community colleges, colleges, universities or professional athletic events not related to firearms. Even if the campus were not covered by the law, KU's weapons policy does not allow for firearms and other weapons, such as explosives, poisonous gases, tear gas, smoke bombs or switch-blade knives to be carried. Mace or pepper spray are legal for self defense. Law enforcement officers or employees with written permission from the provost may carry a firearm on campus.
