How much is the state sales tax in Kansas, and how much has it gone up in recent years?

The state sales tax is 5.3 cents per dollar. The state sales tax was established in 1937 at a rate of 2 cents per dollar.

It increased to 2.5 cents in 1958, 3 cents in 1965, 4 cents in 1986, 4.25 cents in 1989, 4.9 cents in June 1962 and 5.3 cents in July 2002.
