Is it illegal to drink alcohol in Lawrence city parks?

Yes, it is illegal to drink alcohol in city parks. You can, however, drink the cereal malt beverage 3.2 beer. There are some locations, however, where cereal malt beverages cannot be consumed, such as indoor recreation facilities and aquatic centers, said Fred DeVictor, head of Lawrence Parks and Recreation. Permits can be obtained for certain events, such as wedding receptions, to consume or sell alcohol in parks. There is a process to go through, fees to be paid and approval to be obtained from the Lawrence City Commission. For detailed information, check with the city's Parks and Recreation Department.
