Who's doing the shoulder work on Wellman Road, and how long will it take for them to complete it?

Construction along Wellman Road is a joint project between the state of Kansas and Jefferson County. The $1.6 million project should be completed in January, said George Pogge, road superintendent for Jefferson County. Work began in July to improve a six-mile stretch of the road between First and 54th streets. Wellman Road, used by people commuting to and from Jefferson and Douglas counties, is accessible from U.S. Highway 59 and also is known as County Road 1045 and East 1400 Road.

It's suggested commuters use U.S. Highway 59 as an alternate route during construction.
